Redstone American Grill in Eden Prairie is please to announce its new Open House Tasting Events on Thursdays in February and March. From 5:30-7pm, enjoy great wine, beer or spirits paired with delicious creations from Redstone chefs in our beautiful new private dining room. This is a great way to try some new wine and spend time with friends after work.

This Thursday we’ll be featuring wines from Root:1 from Chile. These wines are wonderful – created from grapes grown on original, ungifted root systems. The purity of the vine means pure, rich fruit flavors and aromas in your glass.

We’ll be pairing the following dishes and wines:

• Sauvignon Blanc- Spicy Tuna Roll
• Chardonnay- Barbecue Chicken Tacos
• Pinot Noir- Braised Veal Wellington
• Carmenere- Pulled Short Rib Stroganoff

Meritage is a Bordeaux-style blend made in the United States. A group of American winemakers actually formed an association in 1988 to create the classification. The change meant winemakers would not be limited to a certain percentage of each type of grape in their creations and could use the best grapes possible – a little Merlot, some Cabernet Franc, etc.

The only rule is that the final blend has two or more Bordeaux grapes in it, with no single variety may make up more than 90 percent of the blend. Meritage highlights the skill and precision of winemaking at its finest.

Meritage Food Pairings

Meritage wines are medium to full-bodied with a dark, ruby red appearance. You’ll notice flavors of blackberry, cherry, currants, coffee and smoke in this wine. So what should you eat with Meritage? It’s a great wine to drink while enjoying steaks, roast beef and lamb.
